    MLRO

Money Laundering Reporting Officer. Senior role responsible for AML/CFT reporting and suspicious activity escalation.

The MLRO (Money Laundering Reporting Officer) is a mandated senior function inside regulated financial and virtual asset firms, responsible for anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing controls, filing suspicious activity reports with the relevant Financial Intelligence Unit, and acting as the primary AML contact for regulators. In Dubai, VARA-licensed issuers and virtual asset service providers must appoint a UAE-resident MLRO alongside a Compliance Officer, and the role is a recurring line item in the operating cost of both VARA and DFSA-licensed firms.
